“The division cuts both society and power. One part of power, the president, is against another part. In social networks, the degree is very high and the good tone has passed. The saddest thing is the difficulty to have a reasonable conversation. Each side has a very clear position: quite intransigent and radical, it defends it fiercely because it is not willing to listen to the other. This makes the crisis difficult to handle, “said social anthropologist Haralan Alexandrov to Bulgaria ON AIR.
“These crises appear periodically. It was not an unexpected crisis. It was expected for 2-3 years. It was known that this division in society exists, it is only noticed now. It coincided with the pandemic. This crisis is absolutely unmanageable, unlike the earlier. “There is hardly a way out of what is happening now. One of the two countries will have to resign in the coming weeks, “said public relations expert Maxim Behar.
According to Alexandrov, the responsibility lies with the government.
“The one with the most power is responsible. It’s like in a family. If the children fight, the parents have not done their job, but if the parents fight, we cannot blame the children for going crazy.”
According to him, the government and Prime Minister Boyko Borissov should speak to the disaffected and suggest concrete ways out of the crisis. It was a mistake that there was no number 2 in GERB and that Borisov limited his appearances.
“They have to have very clear messages and actions. This with the jeep and the lives on Facebook is not a good approach. The conflict between the prime minister and the president is obvious, it crosses the line of normal communication. These are the two institutions. they need to find common ground – a word for Bulgaria, “Behar explained.”
Haralan Alexandrov agreed with him and emphasized: Otherwise, we are heading for a destructive conflict. This is insane and leads to revolutionary destruction.
They are both optimistic that Radev and Borissov will back off and seek a form of reconciliation.
“It is a great surprise that neither party has clear messages. Emotions have definitely taken over, reasonable arguments and messages could be very difficult to use,” said Maxim Behar.
“The responsibility is always in the government. When children fight, parents have not done something like people. The government behaves in a domestic way,” said Alexandrov, but stressed: “No one can deny that the prosecution has been hyperactive in the last year”.
The social anthropologist is of the opinion that there should be separate protests, because now that everyone is dissatisfied, something unnatural is happening.
