“In Bulgaria, we have again seen a reference to the past that the organizers of the protest will convene a People’s Court. This brings back sad memories of the totalitarian past that we have been trying to separate ourselves from for so many years.” This was stated in a special briefing by Deputy Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev, who is the national coordinator for the fight against anti-Semitism. Georgiev referred to BNT, which reported on the morning news that the protesters would convene a People’s Court in the square. While giving the briefing, the news had already been downloaded from the TV site, as it was not true, to put it mildly.
“I think BNT is a reliable enough source. It was reprinted from many other websites,” Georgiev said when asked by a journalist if he had verified the information about the convening of the People’s Court during the briefing.
At 2:27 p.m. the following message appeared on the BNT website:
Dear ladies and gentlemen,
BNT apologizes to its viewers for inaccurate information on the morning news of September 8, 2020, and the guilty editor will be disciplined.
BNT does not and will not tolerate the distribution of news with false content.

“Fake news from BNT … Didn’t anyone announce the convening of a people’s court? On the contrary, we are fierce opponents of such “ideas”! So if someone has not understood why Koshlukov is the next legal target of the protest… ”commented Nikolay Hadjigenov of the” Poison Trio “on his Facebook profile.
