Scientists point out that discovered nanobodies can also be adapted by humans

The researchers found nanobodies that could more effectively block the entry of the COVID-19 coronavirus into cells. The study results were published in the journal Nature Communications, RIA Novosti reported.

Specialists from the Swedish University of Carolina injected a South American llama alpaca with a spiny protein, with the help of which the coronavirus enters the body’s cells and after 60 days its blood samples showed a strong immune response. The researchers then cloned and studied the nanobody sequence of the animal’s B lymphocytes, which are involved in the production of antibodies.

As a result, the researchers identified a type of ty1 nantello that attaches to the parts of the spiny protein that bind to the ACE2 receptor and more effectively prevents the virus from penetrating cells in the body.

IN PANDEMIC CONDITIONS: Schools and kindergartens do not have medical staff

The researchers note that the nanobodies found are significantly smaller than conventional antibodies, simpler and more cost-effective to produce, and can be adapted by humans.
