Wood waste is burning, NOVA has learned
The fight against the fire at the Svishtov chemical plant continues for eight hours. Dry trees are burning in an area of approximately 800 square meters.
The flames were noticed around 8 in the morning. The signal was given for a fire in an open warehouse with dry wood, which has a total area of 4 acres. About 50 firefighters with 8 fire trucks participate in the fight against the flames. The municipality helps with 4 freighters, a train with 50 tons of water is used, from which the fire trucks are recharged.

The flames are already located. There are no damaged facilities of the chemical plant. There are no injuries either. There is no danger to the Svishtov population from gassing. Svilosa has been out of service for two months, after an explosion in late June destroyed one of the plant’s plants.
“Fire is quite difficult to control. Quite complicated. In these 800 square meters there is a lot of wood mass with a height of about 10-15 meters. This is a big load of fuel and when it ignites, imagine what kind of fire it is. The firefighters cannot approach it. When the water jet hits the fire, the water evaporates. We have been fighting the element for 6-7 hours and only now can we boast that we have located it, “commented the Commissioner Krassimir Krastev, Director of the Regional Directorate “Fire Safety and Protection of the Population” – Veliko Tarnovo.
