Prosecution charges against parliament should start in parliament, says cultural anthropologist and director of the International Center for Minorities and Cultural Interactions
“On September 2, it was painful to see the police try to refrain from force when they themselves were brutally abused. In such chaos, many things happen.” This was stated by Antonina Zhelyazkova, cultural anthropologist, director of the International Center for Minorities and Cultural Interactions, in an interview with Yuliana Metodieva for the website https://www.marginalia.bg/.
The protesters had no reason to complain that they had been dragged or beaten with batons or that they had been detained. That’s when you rebel. You hold on with courage because you have bet on your idea beforehand. They are the heroes of the uprising, but the police also did what was necessary so that many more people were not harmed by the protesters. I thank you, says Zhelyazkova ..
In short, I think that with us on September 2, everything went quite smooth and calm, thanks to tactically handled actions by the police.
It is much more surprising to me what happened after that, when Radev called those who did his job to demand an account. The person who gave a personal but institutionally clothed impetus to the assault was looking for an account. Very ugly, unethical, insolent. And unconstitutional, believes Zhelyazkova.
And you can spit on me, but instinctively, only respect, liking / trust in me woke up a boy, and he is a policeman, secretary general of the Ministry of the Interior and after a reference on the Internet I learned that his name is Ivaylo Ivanov. Well done man! And knowing that it will be expensive for me to appreciate you a lot (in the family, among friends and students).
Don’t give up on the fighter!
It’s a shame that political representation in Parliament is so weak right now that everyone is wondering how to survive rather than launch an indictment against the president. Not to remove him, but to point out all the constitutional violations he has committed in the last two months. It is interesting why the Constitutional Court does not refer itself, asks Zhelyazkova.
For two months I have been speaking with participants and supporters of the protests from different generations. I hear diatribes of intolerance, disagreement, criticism, even hatred. But no one could tell me what we will do next and how, Zhelyazkova is worried. The young people I ask about these problems are educated, intelligent and many of them are well informed. They want a change, something new, smart, clean, democratic and stable, but they don’t want to take personal responsibility. They don’t want to get dirty with politics, they don’t want to leave their welcoming professions and families to become speakers, faces, and leaders. When I say ironically that we are moving to a new “higher” level, we will be ruled by Slavi Trifonov, Cornelia Ninova, God forbid and someone from the “Poison Trio”, the answer is a shrug and a grim grunt. This is not a civil society.
Civil society must have internal resistance to prevent and protect itself from impure interference in its revolt. Although he himself, due to his weakness, is guilty of allowing thieves and manipulators like Vasil Bozhkov, Tsvetan Vassilev, Margini, Ultras and other similar ugly Frankensteins to emerge from the flesh of our country. It is very difficult, but it is mandatory to have a clear dividing line between the youth of the street resistance and the monsters. Otherwise, nothing happens. This is already being experienced by our generation, which possessed some basic qualities of civil society. He had a program and a vision, morality, courage, but he failed to break free through lustration or unshakable isolation from all manner of ex-cops, informants, and nomenklatura. That is why we fail.
Why should young people repeat our mistakes? The deputies of Bozhkov and Vassilev in the new Parliament? It doesn’t even sound scary, but disgusting, Zhelyazkova is in shock.
