To facilitate the intensive traffic expected at the end of the three weekends tomorrow / September 7 / at 6:30 am, traffic is restored on the South Arc of the Sofia / SOP / ring road in the reconstructed section of 6 km between zh.k. Mladost and the Trakia highway, RIA reported.

The crossing will be made in both directions in the lane where construction activities are not taking place, and will be regulated by traffic lights in Gorublyane, German and Lozen. Drivers need to drive with greater attention and proper speed and strictly follow signs.

Reconstruction of the 6-kilometer route began in October last year. The section between zh.k. Mladost and Gorublyane were closed on June 14 this year for the demolition of the old overpass at km 40 and the construction of a new one. The two-lane road is widened into two lanes with 3 lanes in each direction, a middle dividing strip, dividing strips between the premises and the direct route, 2 local lanes and sidewalks.

The new Sofia ring road route will provide a connection between the Struma and Trakia motorways, facilitate transit traffic from the Europa motorway, and connect to the border crossings with Turkey and Greece. The investment is 142.7 million BGN with VAT and comes from the national budget. The deadline to complete the modernization is spring 2021.
