The Sofia District Prosecutor’s Office held the defendant RP, 41, criminally responsible for a crime classified in art. 339, paragraph 1 of the Penal Code, announced by the state prosecutor’s office.
Art. 339, para. 1. Anyone who in any way acquires, possesses or transfers explosives, firearms, chemical, biological or nuclear weapons, ammunition for firearms or pyrotechnic articles to third parties, without having the corresponding permit, will be punished with two years in prison. up to eight years.
He is accused that on September 2, 2020, around 8:30 pm in the city of Sofia, at the intersection of Tsar Osvoboditel Blvd. and Knyaz Alexander Batenberg Str., Weapons, ammunition, explosives and pyrotechnic articles, stored in his backpack an unknown quantity of handmade explosives, which he handed over to an unknown number of people participating in the protest.
The latter, in turn, threw them at the employees of the Ministry of the Interior, in the performance of their official duties related to the protection of public order, and after throwing them, the explosives were ignited. The criminal act committed by the accused is punishable by imprisonment of two to eight years.
Given the high public danger of the act, on 04.09.2020 a prosecutor from the Sofia District Prosecutor’s Office ordered the arrest of RP for up to 72 hours, after the expiration of which a request will be prepared and sent to the SRS for prison preventive. “Detention in custody”.
