The sub-Balkan highway in the Kurtovo village section is closed to traffic due to an accident. During the accident, two cars collided head-on: a Skoda Rapid with a Plovdiv registration and a Honda Accord with a Stara Zagora registration.
The driver of the Skoda died: a 34-year-old man and a 74-year-old passenger in the Honda.
The woman driving the Stara Zagora car was taken to a hospital.
The most likely cause of the accident is the slippery road surface due to the previous rain, Plovdiv24 reported.
Temporary traffic organization has been introduced, cars are redirected through the Kurtovo-Gorni Domlyan-Vedrare ring road – main road III – 641. Heavy vehicles wait on site due to lack of infrastructure for transportation bypass.
Pre-trial proceedings have started, a group from Karlovo Regional Hospital is carrying out an inspection of the site.
