There is no way that Boyko Borissov and Rumen Radev understand who will be the next prime minister. Radev is not an opposition leader. He is on the side of the Constitution and the laws that the government is obviously violating.
This was stated by the political scientist Petar Cholakov. For “This Morning” on bTV, he commented on GERB’s proposals for a new constitution, ongoing protests and tensions between the presidency and the cabinet.
According to him, with the Constitution the GERB does not buy time, but it loses the time of the people. According to him, the proposals are not worth commenting on.
“This is total nonsense. (…) Fundamental human rights cannot be submitted to a referendum,” he explained.
Cholakov insisted that the GERB and MRF models should be changed, because it turned out that they were well connected. The political scientist explained that the responsibility for the actions of the police as of September 2 lies entirely with Prime Minister Borissov.
“The GERB is losing in this situation and the ruling party is trying to buy time. The GERB cannot help losing. The protest makes Borissov unable to become prime minister again,” said sociologist Evelina Slavkova.
Evelina Slavkova believes that there is an even fiercer showdown between the presidency and the government right now. According to her, the protest is entering a different phase due to escalating tensions and because the summer season is over and people are returning to Sofia.
“The provocations exceeded what the Bulgarian could perceive. In principle we are repressive, but not so much ”, he commented.
According to her, even GERB supporters supported Rumen Radev: “The moment he started to provoke abruptly, these people started to withdraw and their approval fell.”
According to her, the MRF resolved the situation with the Constitution after announcing that they would not vote for the convocation of a Grand National Assembly.
Slavkova thinks that GERB is losing in the situation with the Constitution.
