A Danish citizen filming what happened at last night’s protest in Sofia sensed the “professionalism” of the Bulgarian police.
A video shared by the foreigner himself shows how he repeatedly tried to have a normal conversation with the uniformed men, but received misunderstandings, threats and even physical self-mutilation.
“Run, I’ll slap you!” Warns one of the gendarmes in pure Bulgarian. In perfectly understandable English, the Danish citizen asks: “Are you going to hurt me? Are you threatening me? I don’t understand you. But this is a European country”, acknowledging the threatening tone against him.
“Well, you don’t understand what?”, The Bulgarian employee of the Ministry of the Interior replies in a babaite tone.
“Can I speak to someone in English?” The man, who was playing the role of a reporter, continues to insist before the astonished police. In response, he was pushed from where he was standing for no apparent reason.
“Why don’t you let the Danish media cover what is happening here?” Asks the puzzled foreigner over and over again.
