A scandal broke out between BSP lawmakers and Speaker of Parliament Tsveta Karayancheva after the Reds insisted that she explain why journalists do not have access to the floor where MPs are and cannot freely ask questions.

With the transfer of the deputies to the new parliament building, the journalists were separated from the deputies. The press center is located three floors below the one where the plenary hall and the parliamentary group rooms are located. Therefore, journalists have almost no access to parliamentarians, ministers or guests of parliament. Two televisions are installed in the press center, from where journalists watch the meeting.

The red tone in the room was marked by the red Georgi Svilenski, who insisted that the deputies could ask questions of the Interior Minister, Hristo Terziiski, who came to report on last night’s protest to the deputies. He stressed that they should at least be able to ask him questions after this right of journalists has been restricted.

There are clearly written rules in our rules. However, nothing prevents you from taking advantage of them, Karayancheva replied.

The fact that journalists are not in the room and cannot ask their questions freely cannot be replaced by BNT (public television broadcasts the debates live), Red deputy Krum Zarkov insisted from the parliamentary rostrum.

This room was not designed by me, the engineers have decided how to make it. However, I have nothing more to say to you on this matter, Karayancheva insisted.

“Journalists have monitors, they have the opportunity at any time to receive information here from the room, where they have cameras and reporters. At any time they can express their wish to the PR of the individual parliamentary groups for information. You can also be there for them when you want to search for them – there is a statement room. “Nothing is different from what was introduced in the lobby because of the epidemic situation and in general how it is done in European parliaments,” he added.
