The coat of arms of the People’s Republic of Bulgaria on the facade of the building of the former Party House, where the deputies will work this fall, will be removed soon, said the Speaker of the Parliament Tsveta Karayancheva at the beginning of today’s session, reported BGNES .

The president emphasized that this had turned out to be constructively too complicated and too expensive, but assured that this unwanted symbol of the era of socialism will soon not be on the facade. “If it is not during the current National Assembly, then the next one,” he said.

“This relocation has long been debated and difficult. For most of us it was purely emotional the sad farewell to the historic 1884 parliament building with its beauty, modesty and lack of pomp. From the outside, the current building is anything but modest, “Karayancheva emphasized, adding that its most undeniable advantage is that it offers a much larger work area.

“It is not the buildings, the bricks, the marble or the concrete that determine the quality of the work of a parliament. It is determined by the people,” he told lawmakers.

At the beginning of the session, the President wished MPs that fruitful work be carried out in the interest of the Bulgarian citizens.
