The French satirical weekly “Charlie Hebdo” reprinted its cartoons of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, who made him a target of jihadists five years ago, reports AFP. This occurred one day before the start of the trial for the attack on the publication of January 7, 2015.
“We will never give up. We will never give up.”writes the editor of the edition in the new number, which will be on sale tomorrow.
The cartoons in question, depicting Mohammed wearing a bomb instead of a turban, or holding a knife alongside two veiled women, were first published in the Danish edition of the Julands Post and later in Charlie Hebdo.
In addition to the Danish cartoons, Charlie Hebdo also reprinted a cartoon of Muhammad by artist Kabyu, who was among the victims of the attack that killed 12 people.
“Since January 2015, we have been asked many times to publish other cartoons of Muhammad. We have always refused, not because it is prohibited, the law allows it, but because there had to be a good reason to do so, a significant reason to feel sorry. the need to reprint the cartoons in the week of the assassination trial in January 2015 “.it says in a Charlie Hebdo editorial.
