When Dondukov gets dark

and with sleep the square fell asleep,

back on the yellow cobblestones

the tomato of the revolt burns.

Thus began the political scientist Assoc’s comic. Prof. Dr. Stoycho Stoychev, who mockingly and with the methods of popular art portrayed the protests and their leaders Arman Babikyan, Rumen Radev and Maya Manolova. By the way, he did not skimp on the third verse, where he says: and the threat of the middle finger / Sitnyakovo and the blockaded city “. The reference is to one of the afternoons of the protest, when Stoychev drove his car through the crossing in front of the Romanian embassy in Sofia and showed the middle finger to the protesters who tried to stop him.

The text of the comic is based on the revolutionary poem “Septemvriytsi” by Hristo Karpachev, which became a popular party march even before the poet’s death in 1943.

Stoychev’s work was successfully distributed on Facebook and Instagram after he posted it on his comic page called Shanoschema. There are about 200 drawings and almost all of them have a political theme.

“The comics are aimed at a younger audience, who read less often, but instead look at a lot of photographs and images. However, they can be understood by people interested in politics,” Stoychev told 24 Chasa.

The Sofia University professor “St. Kliment Ohridski ”doesn’t actually paint comics, but uses photos, which he processes with a computer program. The idea for them came from their students, and they created their page after the local elections in November 2019.
