Already in the initial stage of the search for Yanek Milanov de Dupnitsa, 43, serious mistakes were made, which are difficult to compensate for. Such thesis was expressed to BNT by the criminologist Botyo Botev. According to him, the Ministry of the Interior and the Public Prosecutor’s Office travel in vain through the city’s fields and unnecessarily hire a large police resource.

Delayed action

Milanov has been missing since July 31. He was then last seen getting into the car of Vasil Kaplanov, who was arrested a few days ago, but on a different charge. The missing man’s brother, Mario, claims that Janek had a brief relationship with Kaplanov’s wife. According to Mario Milanov, the Dupnitsa police have been inactive for a long time and are not looking for his brother. It was only after his meeting with Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev that the most intense actions began last week. As a result, Dupnitsa was blocked by the police and various state services began massive inspections on various lines: taxes, customs, labor.

There are no results at the moment. Kaplanov was arrested and released, and his wife was also questioned. Meanwhile, hundreds of police with sniffer dogs were dispatched to search a huge 120-square-kilometer stretch. and it became clear that one of the versions in which the Interior Ministry was working was for kidnapping.

Kidnapping?

According to Botev, this version is incorrect and from the beginning one had to think of the worst: that Milanov may have been assassinated.

The assessment was erroneous in the initial stage, when the information was received that it was a case of kidnapping. Even then, in this situation, one had to think of the worst: that the man had been killed. And in this regard, in my opinion, competent specialists of “Assassinations” should have been involved.“he said.

Instead, the case was entrusted to the CDCOC kidnapping department.

Talking about kidnapping was definitely frivolous“he commented.

House arrest

So far no charges have been filed for the kidnapping or murder of Milanov. The only person arrested, Kaplanov, was arrested in an old case for illegal possession of ammunition. Prosecutors insisted that he remain in permanent detention, but the court released him under house arrest. The decision is being appealed.

In addition, the thesis was sneaked in that the Dupnitsa police were inactive because the suspect was considered close to the Galevi brothers. The attorney general said that everything possible would be done to avoid going back to the “times of Mutren” and whoever thinks they are not over will understand that they are, “but in a difficult way.”

In the context of his threats, it is persistently said that the local population lives in fear and the police are inactive because the suspect was close to Galevi. According to Botev, this is not true. He commented that there may be such a suspicion of inaction when it comes to other crimes, but not murder.

I attribute it to the inexperience of the Dupnitsa people, who initially engaged“he said about the omissions.
