A dispute between protesters and the police broke out on the 53rd night of anti-government demonstrations in Sofia. The first conflict arose during the march between Nezavisimost Square and Orlov Most, which ended every night of protest, BNR reported.
The protesters tried to cross the fence between the former Party House and the National Gallery of Art, but were stopped by the police. An affected man then turned to the officer with an insulting definition and was pushed aside. This caused other men to rush to defend him. The man later apologized and was released.
With the intervention of Atty. Hadjigenov by the organizers and other protesters overcame the tension. The procession reached Eagle Bridge and the protest ended.
The main call for the protest tonight was for all those who want the resignation of the government and the Attorney General – join the National protest on September 2.
The dissatisfied traditionally began to meet around 7:00 p.m. in front of the Presidency. Shortly before that, a man lit two cigarettes and threw one of them at the Council of Ministers. There was no tension. Protesters filled the square around the fountain in front of the presidency. Among them were many young people, families with young children, cyclists.

In recent days, all the rallies have been marked by the mobilization for the great protest of September 2, called “Great Uprising of the People”, when the deputies return to work.
Tonight, organizers handed out stickers with the words “Great Uprising of the People” and a picture of a broom and a snake.

They asked those present to publish them around the city and inform the citizens of what will happen on September 2. We’ll sweep them away, said Arman Babikyan of the so-called Poison Trio. “It will take a lot of brooms to sweep up so much garbage. It is our fault, including mine. The garbage piled up because we waited 11 years,” he said.
Organizers called for a massive protest on September 2 at 8 a.m. in Independence Square, when lawmakers are expected to begin their new session.
On September 2, I propose a meeting here, said Reneta Indjova, former Prime Minister of the country. We have a long marathon ahead of us, he added.

Singer Sofia performed her song “Blue Talisman” from the stage. As before, she announced that she is also good at cleaning.
Today we have a singer from Pernik, and on Wednesday we are waiting for angles from Pernik, a lawyer Nikolay Hadjigenov from the “Poison Trio” said in front of the crowd. He warned that the fight against corruption will not be easy. Hadjigenov asked people to repeat that they are not afraid of winning on September 2. After his speech, the hymn was played.
After hearing the national anthem, shortly after 9 pm, the protesters marched along Tsar Osvoboditel Blvd. to Orlov Most.
The intersections of Sofia University Independence Square and Eagle Bridge remain blocked.
The counter-protest
Tonight, a counter-protest was again held on Sitnyakovo Blvd. About thirty people are gathering there with a request to remove the tent camps and move freely in the center of Sofia. They are defined as civil patrols that protect the intersection from the blockade.
According to them, the protests are illegal and violate the rights and peace of citizens.
“They do not have writing on these crosses, just to clear them, because there can be clashes. Which ones are more visible in the elections when we vote, not which ones came out more in the squares and which ones lay eggs ”.
“They did not go to protest, but simply to annoy others,” commented the protesters.
The goal of the people who gather every night in front of the Romanian embassy is not to allow the “rebels”, as the protesters are called, to also block this crossroads.
Their permit for these meetings expires tomorrow, they plan to request an extension from the Municipality.
They are convinced that they will be here every night to oppose anarchy.
Most of those present in front of the Romanian embassy are elderly and there are policemen.
