A chain accident on the Trakia Highway caused a one kilometer traffic jam on the afternoon of the last weekend in August. After the collision near Plovdiv, a car burst into flames. The accident forced thousands of drivers to wait for firefighters to recover the burned car.

Traffic on the highway to Sofia was extremely heavy as everyone was returning from the sea. At the scene of the accident, teams from the Traffic Police controlled the traffic on the Trakia Highway.

The 4-car collision took place in the early afternoon, shortly after one of the road junctions to Plovdiv. Seconds after the accident, a family passes by with a child.

“My husband stopped abruptly so we could crash into the front car. We were worried, the boy had a nervous breakdown. It was very scary. Once again, we made sure that the belts save lives,” said the woman.

However, the passengers in the hit cars are out of luck. A car burst into flames and burned completely.

“The car caught fire. After the first, with Bulgarian registration, decreased, the second and third car were with Turkish citizens, they did not keep their distance and hit each other and the second caught fire,” explained the head of the “Police. of Security “- Plovdiv Commissioner Viktor Prazov.

Ambulances that arrived at the scene took a pregnant woman to the hospital for observation.

“There are no injuries, a 27-year-old pregnant woman felt abdominal pain and was taken for examination to” St. Georgi “University Hospital, added Commissioner Prazov.

There is no danger to mother and baby, the hospital announced. But due to frequent accidents on the roads, the police ask:

“Keep a distance and drive at a normal speed to save the lives of all participants.”

In order not to obstruct a large section of the highway, for several hours the traffic from Burgas to Sofia was diverted onto the sub-Balkan highway.
