Scandal between police officers at the Zlatarevo checkpoint
A scandal broke out among Border Police officers at the Zlatarevo checkpoint, Petrich region, local media reported.
About 10 days ago, a helicopter filmed cannabis-ready plantations from the air in hard-to-reach places in the mountainous region on the border with North Macedonia. Hidden cameras were placed in various locations. Instead of the owners of the fields, two border policemen fell into the trap. The cameras filmed them entering the “grass” and beginning to harvest in sacks.
The bosses saw all this and waited up to three days for their uniformed wards to report that they had destroyed cannabis. This did not happen and after they were discovered, the “gatherers” panicked. One was immediately hospitalized, the other reported that he had left.
The scandal, which is embarrassing to the Border Police, was deeply classified, but people familiar with the matter say there was a panic at the Zlatarevo checkpoint. A pre-trial process was initiated in the case. From the first interrogations it was clear that the policemen were also involved in the cultivation of “grass” in Petrich and the only question was to what extent. A team from Sofia may be sent for the investigation, which has nothing to do with the local planters.
