A police team working on a signal to break the night silence was attacked that night in Provadia. After being struck with an ax and beaten, a police officer received minor injuries. The perpetrators have been arrested, the police press center in Varna announced. Here are the details:
On 14.05.2020 at 10.20 pm it was announced that loud music was being heard from a street in the western part of the city of Provadia. At the scene, in front of a private house, the police found a man in a visibly intoxicated state and who was still drinking alcohol, standing next to external speakers of a music system, from where music is heard at full volume. The person rudely rejected the warning given by the police to stop the music, immediately afterwards refused to provide an identity document and began to behave aggressively.
Steps were taken to arrest the man, in which a woman with an ax came out of the house and hit one of the policemen with the back of the ax. Her actions were joined by three other people close to her, who hit the police officer with a hard object. Meanwhile, the first two people escape in an unknown direction. With the respectful actions taken by the second police officer, the situation was brought under control and the scandal stopped.
The injured police officer was taken by a CSMP – Provadia team to the Emergency Center in Varna. Injuries were found in the chest, left elbow, head and bruise on the back.
After the immediate operational search actions, at dawn in Provadia the first two people, the perpetrators of the act were identified and arrested: VM, 32 years of Provadia and FA, 24 years of Dalgopol, both exposed to crimes and generally residents at the address in Provadia where the case took place.
Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case, the work of which continues under the supervision of an OP-Varna prosecutor. Inspection of the accident scene last night was conducted in the presence of the Varna District Attorney, a supervising prosecutor with the District Attorney’s Office, Varna.
