Hotels where a tourist infected with COVID19 is found will not be closed. In such cases, an algorithm works, approved by the RHI in the country, to isolate patients in a separate room. This was said in Varna by Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova, who met with representatives of the tourism industry, with the city’s mayor Ivan Portnih, regional governor Stoyan Pasev, representatives of control institutions, BNR reported.

Angelkova pointed out that all the instructions announced by the ministry are up to date and that depending on the decisions of the non-European institutions and the situation with the epidemic situation in our country they can be changed. He assured that there will be no discrimination and that all the bilateral agreements concluded in this area will be reciprocal for our country.

This summer, beach tenants and concessionaires will be able to increase commercial space by up to 4 percent to have enough distance between the masses, Angelkova added.

In addition, the amount of the concession fees and rents will be linked to the prices at which umbrellas and deck chairs are offered throughout the sandy strip. The prices of these services should be reduced by at least 50 percent compared to the summer of 2019.

Angelkova also recalled the planned changes in terms of the placement of umbrellas and deckchairs: for an umbrella with two deckchairs, 20 square meters are provided. The new changes for the beaches will be adopted before May 23.

The Minister added that the categorization of guest accommodation and restaurants, which has expired or is expiring, will run until the end of the year.

The instructions for hoteliers and restaurants on how to work in the current situation are already a fact, they are published on the website of the Ministry. According to her, in case of a change in the epidemiological situation, the measures for the sites will be adjusted. He added that a query was sent to the EC on how tourists from non-EU countries will be treated, as well as the hiring of workers from those countries.

Currently, almost 90 percent of hotels in Varna work to meet all sanitary requirements, added the image Pavlin Kosev, president of the Varna Hotel and Restaurant Association. However, average employment is a maximum of 25 percent.

According to him, a problem for the owners is that many of the buildings do not have balconies where food can be served to guests. Room service also makes it difficult for hoteliers, since many waiters are needed, and hiring more people is not economically feasible, Bose quoted Kosev as saying.

He added that hotels no longer offer all-inclusive deals. His position is that even if this type of service returns, it will not be the way it was before.

Regarding the complexes around Varna, Kosev clarified that the hotels have not yet opened. According to him, this summer each owner will decide when and if it will work. Specifically for business and conference tourism in Varna, Kosev’s position was that he hopes to reach 80 percent of overnight stays last year.

Most likely this year there will be a special designation for COVID-19 low-distribution areas like Varna at this time, added Mayor Ivan Portnih. He expressed his special thanks to the residents of the city, who have complied with the requirements in a disciplined manner and this has helped to maintain the area with very few cases of infection compared to other areas of the country.
