For several months, the only topic that replaced the news about the coronavirus pandemic in the media and human thought was Levski. Will it be, won’t it be? Who will be the new owner? Are the fans traitors or saviors? Should the state help? Yesterday events were forced.
Pavel Kolev: No change in Levski’s ownership, the number of people willing to sponsor the club has increased

The club’s alleged de facto owner, Vasil Bozhkov, whose gambling business was practically demolished by the state within a few months, ordered de jure majority shareholder Georgi Popov to back them up to Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.
The Prime Minister is, among other things, a well-known Levski player and announced that the state has the tools to help each club, whenever its ownership is changed. However, this did not happen in the way everyone expected.

Bozhkov played a move, after which the Prime Minister fell into the situation known to chess players as “tsug-zwang”. It is no coincidence that the businessman, albeit briefly, was president of the Chess Federation. If Borissov had accepted the actions for even a second, he would have become Levski’s majority owner, casting doubt on his fairness, and not just in football.
Petar Hubchev is still Levski’s coach, at least for now.
The Blues want the championship to restart on June 12.
Bozhkov’s assumption may have been that if the prime minister did not accept them, the person who did not want to speed up the club’s financial bailout would likely be in the eyes of the Levski community. Obviously, no one, perhaps except Vasil Bozhkov, was ready for such a development.
But there is something else that is much more important: Levski fans, and the club named after perhaps the biggest and most beloved Bulgarian, do not deserve this circus. They must not be guinea pigs in some strange political-economic experiment.
