The time is coming back when there were prices for the Bulgarians by the sea. Hotels will lower prices to attract domestic tourists. This was predicted on bTV by Atanas Dimitrov, Vice President of the Bulgarian Hotel and Restaurant Association. He called on the Bulgarians to choose their native Black Sea coast.
Dimitrov discussed yesterday’s industry meeting with Prime Minister Boyko Borissov. “The meeting was a very constructive dialogue. Our main economic and financial demands for the survival of the industry were put on the table. It was the only one that fell to its knees. Hoteliers, restaurateurs and tourism in general are in a situation very difficult and it will be very difficult to start. ” its restoration, “said Dimitrov.
Part of the demands of hoteliers and restaurateurs is a 5% reduction in VAT on basic needs from July 1 to the end of 2021.
“We want to prepare a program against the crisis on how we are going to face from now on. One of the points is the differentiated taxation of VAT. It is an extremely big problem for us,” said Dimitrov. But he admitted that they received no support for it.
“We did not have a definitive answer, and the government asked for time to think. We hope this happens, because it will be a breath of fresh air for us,” he added.
“More than 60% categorically did not want to open restaurants in this mode of operation. Their capacity is currently operating at 10-15%,” explained Atanas Dimitrov. According to him, there are no clear rules of conduct in case of detection of coronavirus in a hotel or site.
“We proposed to create a type of guarantee fund to take this blow,” said Dimitrov.
