“St. Ivan Rilski University Hospital clarified the case of a patient who was treated at the hospital and in relation to the RHI-Blagoevgrad information that the main source of coronavirus infection in the town of Osina is this patient.

“AL has never been treated at St. Ivan Rilski University Hospital with or with coronavirus”, declared by the medical institution, cited by BGNES.

While in the hospital, the woman was not a carrier of COVID-19, something confirmed by both the negative test and the scan she underwent. The patient died without a coronavirus infection being proven (there is no evidence to prove it, according to the mayor of the village of Osina Slavcho Hadjiev).

The woman was discharged in stable condition with no evidence of viral infection. This happened two days before the first coronavirus case was discovered in “St. Ivan Rilski”.

On April 18, 2020 in the Hematology Department of the University Hospital “St. Ivan Rilski” he is a diagnosed patient who is positive for the coronavirus. All the patients currently being treated in the ward, as well as all the medical personnel, were immediately evaluated (by PCR test). A list was compiled (with names and contacts) of all patients (more than 400) who passed through the ward in the period from April 3 to 18 (the infected patient was admitted on April 3). This list (with names and contacts) has been sent to the RHI. Separately, doctors in the ward personally called each of these more than 400 patients and warned that they may have been in contact with an infected patient.

Based on the facts presented UMHAT “St. Ivan Rilski” categorically insists:

– for an immediate apology from RHI-Blagoevgrad and personally its director, Dr. Kaloyan Kaloyanov, who, without having indisputable data, allowed himself to tarnish the name of one of the most respected hospitals in Bulgaria;

rebuttal by Dr. Kaloyan Kaloyanov, RHI-Blagoevgrad Director, of the information provided by him. (In his interview this morning with journalist Viktor Nikolaev of Nova TV, he presented incorrect information that AL was treated at the St. Ivan Rilski University Hospital for coronavirus and was discharged with this diagnosis.)

“We take the opportunity to ask some, in our opinion, reasonable questions:

Where was RHI-Blagoevgrad when the first cases of infected people were established in the village of Osina?

Why did RHI-Blagoevgrad allow the infection to spread?

Why, despite the insistence and repeated warnings of the village mayor Slavcho Hadjiev, was he not isolated?

Given that 650 people live in your territory, a density that suggests a rapid spread of the infection?

Why, although RHI-Blagoevgrad had information that AL had been in contact with a coronavirus-infected patient, was it not examined, then or subsequently?

Why wasn’t it quarantined then? Were all possible sources of infection in the village or UMHAT “St. Ivan Rilski” was the “convenient answer”? “

“In conclusion, we would like to say that we categorically reject any allegation against St. Ivan Rilski University Hospital for spreading COVID-19 infection. The medical institution is one of the most authoritative in Bulgaria. 30,750 patients are treated there annually, 65% of whom are from the field. “
