Georgi Popov STAFF: NOVA

“In people with a poor immune response, we have a delay or no antibody formation. These are the elderly and people with diseases. They may have a recurrence of the coronavirus.” This was explained to NOVA by the Deputy Head of the Georgi Popov Military Medical Academy.

He also commented on when a person can donate blood plasma. “To get to treatment, we had to find suitable patients to donate blood. This has to do with many factors that do not depend on us and the patient. We have many women who want to donate blood plasma but have a weight problem. We had a case of a woman who weighed only 52 kg. And there was no way. People with low hemoglobin levels also cannot donate blood, as well as people older than 75 years, “Popov explained.

“The doctor from the Sofia Emergency Department, who died, was cured and, later, the disease recurred or another disease occurred, which led to her death,” he explained.

“At the Military Medical Academy, we have been preparing for the virus for a long time. Discipline in the hospital comes first. Colleagues, however, are tired. Any underestimation of the situation is dangerous,” added Popov. According to him, the Hospital for Infectious Diseases should do more to work with coronavirus infection.
