The director of the hospital in Yambol demanded permanent security and police protection because relatives of patients with COVID-19 attacked the doctors, bTV reported.

Information emerged that an infected patient had fled the hospital, then was found at his home in the Roma neighborhood and returned to the infectious disease ward. The director denies having that case.

There are 11 more positive tests for coronavirus per day. If the number of infected continues to rise, the district hospital is likely to close for other patients.

The city’s two private establishments refuse to help. Local authorities are asking for volunteers, but the only one who responded was the mayor of Topolovgrad.

A third room for COVID-19 patients will be opened with only 5 nurses.

According to the hospital administration, more than 90% of those hospitalized with coronavis do not have insurance.

St. Panteleimon General Hospital in Yambol has enough construction resources and beds to cope with the growing cases of people infected with COVID-19, but needs about eight members of the service staff, the mayor of the municipality Valentin Revanski told BTA . In a meeting with school medical and children’s health care staff in Yambol, no one agreed to work at the hospital, despite the additional payment, Revanski added.

During the past 24 hours, 11 positive samples for coronavirus have been confirmed in the district, bringing the total number of infected to 67, the District Medical Council announced.
