Three months before his 54th birthday, Milen Tsvetkov, one of the most popular television journalists in Bulgaria and one of the most beloved television presenters, felt uneasy after a serious catastrophe in central Sofia.

In recent years, Tsvetkov lived alone and was mainly engaged in his work. But he never stopped caring for his two children: Kalina, 24, from his first marriage, and Boyan, 8, from his girlfriend, Iveta.

Tsvetkov, however, did not like to talk about his private life in public. When he did, it was all he had to say about his children, whether it was when he went to the Kalina prom in the Netherlands, or the summers he spent with Boyan in Turkey, where they went kitesurfing.

All the other writings that appeared to him in the yellow editions and the websites were with aristocratic silence.

Tsvetkov’s television career began on BNT, where he studied with the best: Brigita Cholakova. In fact, before meeting her, she is on the team for the legendary student program “Ku-ku”.

This is what Tsvetkov told “24 hours” about the 20th anniversary of Cholakova’s death, who left this world on October 6, 1999:

“He was scared in every way. I was never scared of him, of course, I also liked him as a woman, although he was much older than me. But he was very kind to me. He was attractive in my mind, perhaps because as he was the first person Acquaintance I met, I had moments in common where I was able to meet this person off screen, outside of his work.

The second thing was very strict, but behind that rigor was a very good woman.

I’m going to Ku-ku. At the time, Ku-ku was housed in the office of Stefan Enchev’s secretary, who was in charge of something. The next room was on television on Sunday. I am sitting with Mr. Enchev’s secretary and in a moment Sanya Isaylova flies by. And he says: “We are looking for two nice guys to make the toto” 5 out of 35 “. Then the secretary naturally said:” Ah, here is one “, and points to me. Sanya said to me:” Do you want to come talk to Brigita? ? Cholakova? “I:” Yes, of course. “

“Okay, we’ll call you in 1 hour, because she went out somewhere.”

After 1 hour they call me, they put me in a chair in front of Brigitte, and I won’t forget how she crossed her legs and looked at me with irritation. Who are you, what are you, wondering, I explain. He explained that they wanted to make “5 of 35” as a game, the first television game. You want to participate I don’t want

Some time passed and they told me that the photos would be in the Winter Palace of Sport in Student Town. I go there, Brigita arrives and says: Are you skating?

Driving “Give him some skates,” he yells.

In the first broadcast, Tsvetkov has to appear on skates, put himself in the picture, say a few things, and then go interview a person in Russian.

“When I first introduced myself, he called me and asked if I wanted to work at The Weekly. This is how I worked for half a year.
I’ve never seen her outside of television. He was moving in a completely different circle, very different from mine. I just had a chance to see a man who heard about legends at the time. To see it flesh and blood.

I don’t know if I copied it over the years, but I behaved the same way it behaved. It’s a love of detail, it’s not just about plowing, groping, splashing it in the studio, and showing it to viewers. There are things that need to be touched, made to be reasonably served on screen. Hey, that’s what she took care of.

They called it Iron Hans. Was. I remember one running around with an apron. She says, “There must be a phone here.” Someone calls, “I can’t have a phone.” “Well, how could it not be” and I remember that the one with the apron arrived and after 10 minutes he already had a phone.

When you want to accomplish the things you set out to do, and when you have to do your job and not just do it mechanically, you look like she did.

She did not teach young people. He was just doing things. There is nothing to teach you in this job, you did not go to school but you did your job. And you see her do it and you decide: I want to end her like she does or I don’t want to. “
