Former Leeds defender and English national team member Norman Hunter died after suffering a coronavirus, a second-division club confirmed. Hunter, 76, tested positive for the new COVID-19 last week, after which he was admitted to the hospital.

Plovdiv24.bg a week ago informs his readers that the legendary soccer player is in bad shape and is fighting for his life.

“It leaves a big hole in the Leeds family. His legacy will never be forgotten. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during these difficult times,” said the Yorkshire club, quoted by BTA.

Norman Hunter was part of the England team that won the 1966 World Cup. The former defender has 776 games and 15 goals for Leeds United, as well as 28 games for the English national team.
