Zhivko Todorov is the new Executive Director and member of the Board of Directors of the Bulgarian Development Bank. He is an education financier with many years of experience in the Bulgarian banking system.

The appointment came after Prime Minister Boyko Borisov demanded the resignation of Stoyan Mavrodiev for a loan of nearly BGN 75 million to a collection company.

As he wrote “24 hours” for the first time, Zhivko Todorov is likely to replace Stoyan Mavrodiev at BDB.

Todorov’s professional career started in 1997 at ING Bank – Sofia Branch, where until 2012 he held the positions of Operations Accountant, Financial Controller, Chief Financial Officer and Member of the Board of Directors of Bulgaria.

In the period 2012-2014 he was appointed Financial Director and Member of the Board of Directors of Alfa Bank – Branch of Bulgaria. From June 2014 to March 2020, he is Chief Financial Officer and Member of the Board of Directors of First Investment Bank, where he is responsible for Finance, Accounting, Investor Relations, Treasury and Financial Institutions, Correspondent Relations.

In 2018 he received the Chief Financial Officer of the Year Award from Forbes magazine and EY Bulgaria in the category “Strategy for the development of the financial function”.
