Donald Trump calls an extraordinary economic headquarters

The interdepartmental working group established by the White House to combat the new coronavirus in the United States will cease to exist and will be replaced by another focused on the country’s economic recovery. This was stated yesterday by United States President Donald Trump during a visit to a medical protective mask factory in the state of Arizona, Reuters and TASS reported.

Trump confirmed the plan in response to a question from reporters after Vice President Mike Pence, who heads the crisis headquarters, previously said the White House was considering finishing his job.

“Mike Pence and his team have worked a lot, but now we see things a little differently. This way is security and resumption (of economic activity) and we will create another group that will probably take care of that.” Trump said.

When asked if he declared “mission accomplished” in the fight against coronavirus, Trump said, “No, not at all. The mission will be accomplished when it is all over.”

The president noted that leading national infectious disease expert Anthony Fauci and White House coronavirus coordinator Deborah Brix would continue to be advisers after the crisis headquarters was dissolved. “They will join the new group, along with other doctors and experts in the field,” Trump said, adding: “We cannot keep our country closed for the next five years.”

During his visit to the N95 medical mask factory in Phoenix, Arizona, Trump himself, as usual, did not wear a mask, unlike the workers around him, according to AFP and Reuters. In early April, he said he had no intention of following the recommendations of health authorities to wear a mask.
