The claims of the presidential adviser have led to disputes in northern Macedonia, Channel 5 reported.
Macedonian Prime Minister Denko Maleski gave several interviews this week. The expert is also on the expert council of the Macedonian President Stevo Pendarovski.
Maleski said that Gotse Delchev had an indisputable Bulgarian national sentiment. The statement was first made to Georgi Koritarov and then confirmed to the Macedonian media.
Malexi explained that Gotse Delchev himself expressed his national sentiment, but also that his attitude towards his land must be taken into account. According to the expert, these are historical facts that should not be ignored in order not to repeat the Greek history of relationships.
He also notes that Kruste Misirkov, who laid the foundations for the Macedonian language, also recognized his Bulgarian nationality. Macedonian President Stevo Pandarovski has announced that he is different from his adviser.
They received criticism from the opposition and from many Macedonian media. An EU-Western Balkans summit is expected, at which North Macedonia should clarify its position on the matter.
