The Canadian Armed Forces announced today that six people aboard a crashing military helicopter off the coast of Greece are believed to have been killed, DPA reported.
A Canadian helicopter participating in NATO exercises crashed earlier this week in the Ionian Sea, some 80 km west of Kefalonia.
“Today, with the completion of the search and rescue mission, I and all of Canada mourn the loss of six members of the Canadian Armed Forces staff in the helicopter incident near Greece earlier this week,” said the first Minister Justin Trudeau in a press release. BTA
“Our thoughts go out to the families and loved ones of these Canadian heroes and to the Canadian Armed Forces, saddened by this tragedy,” added Trudeau.
The body of a crew member was found shortly after the accident, but the remaining five people on board were not found by helicopter.
