A large fire has been raging since Monday in the village of Granichar in Burgas, Bulgarian National Television reported. Eight houses were burned, six of which were left uninhabited. Fortunately, no one was injured. However, the fire is growing and has spread to the forest near the village.
Volunteer intervention did not allow the flames to spread to other homes.
Only 4 people live in the village permanently. Yesterday people who also have properties came there to protect them.
Due to the strong wind, the fire spread and covered the forest near the village. The fire covered 2,000 decares of deciduous forests and pine forests. Three firefighters, 55 foresters and volunteers put out the fire.
The fire trucks had to refill the water in the tanks sent to the scene.
The fire brigade assured that at this stage there is no danger to people, but they continue to fight the flames inside the forest.
The fire, which has been raging for several days between several villages on the border of Stara Zagora and Haskovo districts, has not abated and is constantly changing direction. Thousands of acres of mixed forest, grass and shrubs are burning. The atmosphere is very dynamic, it changes every hour. On Tuesday morning everything was calm, but the situation got complicated in the afternoon, when the fire broke out in 9 places along the perimeter of the fire. A strong 34 km / h wind came out and the temperature passed 36 degrees.
Fire fighting continues, and heavy chain equipment drills clearings to limit the spread of fire. Although it stretches between three villages, two in the Stara Zagora region and one in the Haskovo region, there is no danger of reaching settlements and people, BNT adds.
