To date, a total of 672 physicians have been vaccinated against COVID-19. There are 267 people in Sofia, another 280 in Plovdiv and in Burgas 125 people with the vaccine.
The first Bulgarian immunized was the Minister of Health, Prof. Kostadin Angelov. He was followed by the heads of the big hospitals. In Plovdiv, the president of the BMA, Dr. Ivan Madkharov, was the first to be vaccinated.

The vaccination continues in the following days.
For the vaccine to be effective, a second dose must be given 20 days after the first. And each vaccinated person received a health card today, which contains the names, the batch number of the vaccine and the date of the second vaccination.
“I think we will soon begin to overcome the virus. I cannot wait to see my father, who is 70 years old, without worrying that he may infect him,” said Professor Angelov, immediately after being vaccinated.
He spent 20 minutes in a separate room, under strict medical supervision and with increased media interest.
The vaccination continued with the heads of the great hospitals of our country.
“We are at war and this is our weapon in these little bottles! Let us hug and kiss our loved ones,” said Prof. Dr. Ventsislav Mutafchiiski.
Although he has already contracted the virus, the director of Pirogov is also being vaccinated.
Minister Angelov also explained that a vaccinated person cannot transmit the virus, but an important condition is that during the first dose, the person is completely healthy.
“After the second vaccine, once the antibodies have been produced, the person should not be infected if they have antibodies. That is, the moment they are infected, their antibodies should destroy them immediately,” explained Professor Angelov.
According to health authorities, a rapid test is not necessary before administering the vaccine, but an initial examination is sufficient.
In Plovdiv, Dr. Madjarov said that patients could not be convinced that the vaccine was safe without a personal example.
“You don’t feel anything. I had information that it was painful, but obviously the batch, which is for Bulgaria, doesn’t hurt at all or I don’t feel it,” joked the BMA president.
After Dr. Madjarov, the vaccination continued with a nurse in the Emergency Department.
“I am convinced that this is the right way to save our own lives and help our loved ones,” said Raina Todovicina.
The 1,000 vaccines that arrived in Plovdiv are expected to be used in a few days.
“We currently have 200 people on the list that we need to immunize in three days, so the amount of all the vaccines that we currently have will be fully used. The next vaccines that come, there are people on the list who are waiting to be administered,” explained Prof. Dr. Karen Dzhambazov, director of “St. Georgi” University Hospital.
“The declared desire of the doctors is great at this time, even more than the vaccines that have arrived for our region,” said Dani Kanazireva, regional governor of Plovdiv.
According to the latest data, around 30% of doctors in the Plovdiv region have requested a vaccine.
From Plovdiv, vaccines are distributed in the districts of Stara Zagora, Pazardzhik, Haskovo, Smolyan and Kardzhali.
In Burgas, the vaccination also started at 10:00.
Dr. Georgi Pazderov, director of RHI-Burgas, explained that the vaccine is left for 30 minutes at room temperature, after which it is diluted. Then it can last up to 6 hours.
The first in Burgas was the immunized nurse Zlatina Parusheva from the Emergency Department of the city’s University Hospital. She was followed by Dr. Vladislav Rusinov from the Imaging Department.
Every one of the specialists who gave their first vaccination today said they made the decision wisely.
“After seeing so many deaths, especially the deaths of relatives, colleagues, it is right now, I think it is mandatory that each of us be vaccinated,” said Dimitrina Obretenova, nurse at OAIL-UMBAL-Burgas.
In the district today immunization was carried out in 11 medical institutions.
