Russian authorities say they arrested a man suspected of killing 26 elderly women whose homes he robbed in 2011 and 2012, Novini.bg reported, citing AFP.

Radik Tagirov, a 38-year-old locksmith from the city of Kazan (more than 800 kilometers east of Moscow), was detained after police conducted more than 10,000 genetic tests, said Russia’s Investigative Committee (the main body in charge of criminal investigations in Russia).

The killings took place in twelve different regions, the investigating committee said. However, biological traces and shoe prints found at the crime scene, as well as the “stereotypical nature” of the killer’s actions, have led to the conclusion that all the murders were committed by the same person, the committee said.
