Surgeons from MHAT-Pazardzhik saved the life of a 14-year-old boy from the city of Peshtera, stabbed by a colleague. The boy was taken to the Emergency Department last night around 6 p.m., bTV reported.
Doctors performed the necessary exams and tests and transferred him to the Department of Surgery for emergency surgery.
“The boy came to us with a stab wound to the neck, with traumatic injuries and a pneumothorax. This is a penetrating injury to the chest. We had to react quickly because his life was in danger, “said Dr. Musa Durlov, who is part of the team that performed the life-saving operation.
It also includes surgeon Dr. Petar Tsvetkov, anesthesiologist Dr. Vatyo Vatev, operative nurse Spaska Nikolova, and anesthesiology nurse Gergana Nachkova.
The case was reported to the police after the boy’s relatives informed doctors that he was injured after a fight with another boy who stabbed him.
The wounded boy was visiting his attacker, who, after stabbing him, fled.
The boy was very lucky, doctors say. If the knife blade had affected the subclavian artery, which is less than half an inch from the injury site, it would not have survived, the surgeons who operated on it say. The 14-year-old will stay in the Department of Surgery for treatment for at least one week.
