The cat Lasagna, who was looking for a permanent home, was put on a diet and a strict fitness regimen by her new owners. She is 4 times her normal weight, ABC News reported.

Lasagna was abandoned in the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on September 20. She ended up in an animal shelter. There, workers found that the cat weighed as much as a 3-year-old. Management put her on the regimen and took pictures of her new hire, and immediately received hundreds of adoption requests.

Lasagna, despite its 13.3 kilograms, turned out to be a great charm and she loved being scratched on the nightstand. The Hummer family of the city of Vineland in New Jersey received the pleasure of her purr. Upon welcoming the cat, the couple found it difficult to move around and maintain hygiene, as other cats do.

The new owners agree to help the cat regain its normal weight with the help of a specialized veterinarian. Lasagna is named after the fat cat Garfield’s favorite dish, known from cartoons.
