8 people arrested in police custody for driving after using alcohol and drugs in Plovdiv.
Police in the hill town found nearly 1,000 offenders in a specialized operation on May 9-10. This was announced to FOCUS Radio by the spokesperson for the Regional Directorate.
996 offenders were identified during the operation under the supervision of the prosecution. Nineteen fast-track criminal proceedings have also been instituted within the framework of the operation to improve control of drivers.
Employees of district administrations and “specialized police forces” and “traffic police” sectors participated in inspections on city and district roads.
1,419 cars and 1,603 people checked. 318 acts have been drawn up to establish an administrative offense, and the fines imposed on the receipt are 242. Two of the drivers were found to be driving after using drugs. Testing with a technical device for alcohol consumption found that 13 of the drivers were behind the wheel after drinking alcohol. In 3 of the cases, the pharmacist reported more than 1.2 per thousand, and in the other 10 the alcohol sample was below 1.2 per thousand.
304 drivers were penalized for speeding. Within the settlement, 26 cars were detected driving at more than 100 km / h, the highest speed in the city was 134 km / h, and outside the settlement a speed of 119 km / h was recorded.
154 drivers have been penalized for driving without a seat belt. 7 of the passengers in cars were also without seat belts. During inspections of two-wheeled motor vehicles, 33 people were found who were not wearing safety helmets. Inspections also identified three drivers who had unpaid fines and had their driver’s licenses revoked. There were 99 people with irregular documents. 14 of the drivers committed violations by talking on the phone while driving. 37 of the people inspected were sanctioned for breach of traffic signs, markings and traffic lights. One of the vehicles was stopped. Another 252 violations were found under the Highway Traffic Law.
Nineteen expedited proceedings have been launched against the perpetrators of crimes committed in the ODLO Plovdiv territory. At the regional offices of Trud, Rakovski, Stamboliyski, Parvomay, Hissarya and Asenovgrad, drivers who consumed alcohol above 1.2 per thousand, as well as narcotic substances, were detained. Two incompetent drivers were also identified. Three preliminary inspections for driving without registration have been started at Asenovgrad Regional University.
