Bugatti’s iconic Type 35 replica toy car – The Bugatti Baby 2 – Hits Showrooms in Europe

The Bugatti brand has always been synonymous with supercars. It has always been known for cars like Veryon and Chiron. But what we are talking about this time is not going to transcend and set a devastating speed record, nevertheless it is a Bugatti. It is definitely something that will please rich kids with a developing taste in cars. It is the Bugatti Baby 2 that we first saw as a 3D printed model at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show and will have a limited edition. Now it has hit showrooms in Europe and Bugatti will make just 500 units of the Baby 2, and 500 lucky teens already have one in their cart. Yes! It is completely exhausted.

Essentially, it’s a slimmed down Type 35 model, but it’s not just for kids, as Bugatti says even adults can give it a little twist. To allow the Baby 2 to be driven by both adults and children, it has grown from the 50 percent scale of the original to a 75 percent scale replica of the Type 35 and includes a sliding pedal box for drivers of all ages. In the first stage of its creation, the engineering team digitally scanned every component of a 1924 Lyon Type 35 Grand Prix car. They then obtained a new electric powertrain with lithium-ion batteries and regenerative braking along with some elements more redesigned to meet the needs of customers in the modern era. It has the same eight-spoke alloy wheels covered in new Michelin tires and a new hollow front axle along with the suspension and steering mechanism of the old Type 35.

The cabin has the same four-spoke steering wheel in front of the aluminum casing that sports Bugatti’s signature instruments. Old oil and pressure gauges are now replaced with battery level, gauge, and power gauge for obvious reasons, but the watch used to measure race performance on the iconic Type 35 remains a symbol. The Type 35 fuel pressure pump has been digitally replicated and used as a forward or reverse control, and all cars will come with a horn, rearview mirror, parking brake, headlights, and a remote control to deactivate the car from up to 50 meters In the center of the dash there is a plate with the unique chassis number of the Baby 2 and on the nose of each car is the famous Bugatti ‘Macaron’ badge, made of 50g solid silver, like the that the Chiron gets.

It also has a rear wheel drive and comes with two power modes for drivers of different experiences. A 1 kW ‘secondary mode’ with the maximum speed limited to 20 km / h, and a 4 kW ‘adult mode’ with the maximum speed limited to 45 km / h. That said, there is also a speed key for experienced and confident drivers that brings total power to 10 kW and locks the speed limiter. It also comes equipped with a limited slip differential that channels all torque to the rear wheels. The car will come with two removable battery sizes, a standard 1.4 kWh package and a long-range version of 2.8 kWh. While the exact range will depend on driving style, the largest package is expected to give a range of more than 30 km.

The standard car will be painted in French Racing Blue with a black leather interior, but other color options will be available for both the exterior and interior. In addition, all Baby 2 owners will receive membership in The Little Car Club that makes Baby 2, and will be able to attend events where they, their children and grandchildren can drive their cars on the famous motorsports circuits.
