In a recent death notice in Buffalo News, the family of the late Carole Scarsella, from the Lackawanna suburb of Buffalo, listed five things they believed defined her life:
-
Reading, especially Stephen King books.
-
Of smoking. “She smoked millions of cigarettes,” it reads.
-
Slot machines and Facebook games.
-
A love for the New York Yankees and a hatred for Tom Brady.
-
Participation in your children’s schools.
Back to number 4 for a moment. If this isn’t the quintessential bulletin board for a death notice in the Buffalo area, we don’t know what it is.
In fact, the family reserves the use of the capitalization function until that note, to differentiate it. As in, “I HATED Tom Brady.” That explains it in detail.
Read the whole thing for yourselves:
And in case that didn’t explain it, his relatives wanted to take that particular point home.
This is my grandmother. I miss her infinitely. But I’m glad she’s remembered, and the people of Buffalo also share their deep hatred for Tom Brady. https://t.co/MYEhkTahCl

You see, Bills fans haven’t enjoyed taking on Brady too often over the years. The Patriots were an impressive 32-3 against Buffalo with Brady in QB. One of those losses came in week 17 when the Patriots sat down at Brady at halftime. He threw for 70 touchdowns (his most against any NFL team) in those 35 games and ran two more just in case.
Carole is not alone in her hatred for Brady and the Patriots.
But in death, she is now apparently enjoying a level of celebrity that she could never have received outside of her family while she was alive. The publications have gone viral, and their legacy has been consolidated in the hearts of the suffering Buffalonians.
And with Brady now in Tampa Bay, and the Bills not planning to face the Buccaneers until 2021, we hope he can now rest in peace.
Good luck, Carole.
