It has recently been a fierce thin, back-and-forth battle between Ohio State and Alabama for the No. 1 spot in the 247Sports Composite rankings. The Buckeyes had long been No. 1 class, but then Alabama went on a run of commitments that moved the Crimson Tide to No. 2, pushing the Buckeyes close to the top spot.
Then Alabama took over the top spot with its 19 commitments for 299.49 points to the 18 commitments of Ohio State for 298.27 points entering this afternoon. However, Crimson Tides’ lead was short-lived. Today defensive lineman Tyleik Williams was deployed No. 19 for the Buckeyes.
Williams is a 4-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite. He’s the country’s general prospect No. 160, the No. 10 defense pack and Virginia’s No. 5 prospect. With Williams in the fold, the Buckeyes now have 302.20 points out of their 19 commitments, while Alabama remains at 299.49 points on their 19 promises. Clemson is a distant number 3 in the rankings with 15 commitments and 266.33 points.
How close is Ohio State’s fight against Alabama for place no. By breaking the battle further, the Buckeyes have four 5-star commitments, twelve 4-star commitments and three 3-star commitments. Her average per commitment is 94.63.
Alabama has four 5-star commitments, eleven 4-star commitments and four 3-star commitments. Her average per commitment is 94.48.
The Buckeyes’ spectacular 2021 recruiting class of 1921 consists of a 5-star quarterback Kyle McCord who was her No. 1 quarterback goal in the 2021 class, 5-star running back TreVeyon Henderson, 4-star runs back Evan Pryor, two 4-star wide receivers in Jayden Ballard en Marvin Harrison Jr., tight ein Sam Hart, two of the country’s elite offensive linebackers in 5-star Donovan Jackson and 4-star Ben Christman who is the top class of 2021 offensive line prospect in Ohio. On the defensive side of the ball, the Buckeyes have another 5-star prospect in defensive end Jack Sawyer, the top defensive tackle in Ohio at Mike Hall, like Williams, the country’s No. 2 in linebacker in the country Reid Carrico, a trio of outstanding cornerbacks in Jakailin Johnson, Jordan Hancock en Denzel Burke, top safety in the state Jaylen Johnson, 4-star Tennessee safety / cornerback Andre Turrentine, the No. 1 overall safety / athlete in Kentucky safety Jantzen Dunn and Australian punter Jesse Mirco.

The Buckeyes also have a great start to their 2022 recruiting class with commitments from prospect no. 1 in Ohio and the 5-star off-linebacker 5-star of the country. Gabe Powers, the No. 1 prospect in the state of Missouri in linebacker Dasan McCullough, the No. 2 prospect in Ohio in linebacker CJ Hicks, the no. 4 prospect in Buckeyes State in offensive lineman Tegra Tshabola, and the prospectus no. 5 in Ohio in cornerback Jyaire Brown.
