Bryan Cranston reveals he had COVID-19, donates plasma: ‘Keep wearing the damn mask’

Bryan Cranston said he contracted and recovered from COVID-19 and donated his plasma because it contains antibodies.

The actor best known for playing Walter White in AMC’s “Breaking Bad” made the announcement in a video posted to Instagram on Thursday.

Cranston, 64, did not say exactly when he became infected with the coronavirus, but said it was “fairly early” in the pandemic. He had mild symptoms, including a slight headache, chest tightness, and loss of “all” sense of taste and smell, he said.

“Hello everyone. I wanted to announce that I had COVID-19 a while ago. Very lucky, very mild symptoms,” Cranston told the camera as he put on a face mask and sunglasses.

Cranston was recorded at the UCLA Blood and Platelet Center in Los Angeles, California, making the plasma donation. He said the process took about an hour, during which he saw “A Face in the Crowd” starring Andy Griffith and Patricia Neal.

He admitted being “a little nervous” and “shaky” before administering plasma. The video shows him chatting with a hospital employee who explains the process.
