Browns’ Jarvis Landry on Odell Beckham Jr .: ‘He Really Makes This Place Home’

BEREA, Ohio – Browns owner Dee Haslam talks to Odell Beckham Jr. on the field for about five or six minutes on Sunday when he was idle in a special team period, and they both seemed to enjoy the convoy.

In fact, Beckham’s looked comfortable and at ease in the early days of camp, and healthy enough to make one of his vintage one-handed sidelines from Baker Mayfield Sunday over Terrance Mitchell in a seven-on-seven drill.

“I had a great conversation with him today,” Dee Haslam said in a call for video conferencing. “[He’s] excited to be back in his house, and that made a big difference for him. We did an exercise with the team on Friday night – the four H’s, that’s your history, heartbeat, heroes and hopes. Odell texted me and told me he was really related to a lot of things. We had a great conversation about it.

‘I just feel like he’s just a lot nicer here, and he said that. He says ‘I am in my house. I’m more comfortable. ‘I think it was a transition, but I think he does it really well and loves the fact that he talks about how happy he is to be here and how comfortable he is. I think it’s a huge improvement, so we’m really excited that he feels that way. ”

At this point last year, Beckham was home to New York and he did not feel out of place. He had his best friend Jarvis Landry here, but did much of the season with the Giants’ trade.

“He keeps growing,” Landry said Friday at a video conference. “He keeps growing every day, every week every day. That’s something you’re here in the boys’ run and you give. You start to get comfortable. You start to be where your feet are. I think he really makes this place and accepts that. That’s something that, I know for myself personally, I’m glad he’s here and can hopefully stay here for the rest of his career. “

Kevin Stefanski, who has assured Beckham that he wants his role in the crime, is happy with what he saw the first few days.

“The unique thing about him would be the ball skill,” he said. “He is special in that regard. When the ball is in the air, he has the opportunity to get it in any way he can – one with two hands, along the border. He just does a nice job from a ball skill point of view. “

Also at this point last year, Beckham was suffering from the core muscle injury he had repaired in January. From the appearance of things he is 100% restored and back to his old self.

“That has also made a big difference, he is healthy this year and he is confident,” said Haslam.
