Brown agrees to terms on a multi-year deal with former Rams CB Troy Hill

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Browns are back at the Rams Classic 2020 defensive backfield again to find another key player for their secondary.

They agreed on Thursday to terms on a multi-year deal with Rams free agent Cornberk Troy Hill, whose terms were not disclosed, a league source told Cleveland.com.

The acquisition comes three days after the Browns swam to former Rams teammate and safety John Johnson III, their No. 1 target in free agency. Both Rams were starters on the No. 1 overall defense and the No. 1 pass defense in 2020.

Hill, 29, was the NFL 2020 defensive touchdown leader with three of the final six games of the season. Two came on the interception return and one on the smoking return.

With versatility to play in or out, Hill (5-11, 183) will replace free agent Kevin Johnson as the Browns Nickel Cornwack, who agreed to terms with the Titans on Thursday for a year. Hill gives Brown a little insurance in case starter Greedy Williams, who lost everything last season with a nerve damage to his shoulder, needs more time to recover.

Denzel and Ward have also missed three or four games in their first three seasons, so the chances of starting some games from outside Hill are good.

Pro Futb .L Focus ranked Hill as the 18th ranked cornbuck in the NFL, three towns ahead of the ward. In terms of coverage, it was 17th overall, three more places than Ward.

A native of Youngstown, Ohio, Hill started all 16 games on the Cornwall for the Rams last season, catching three interceptions and two fouls. He also made 77 tackles, including 55 solos.

Regal was originally signed by the Bengals in 2015 as a rookie, but was pardoned in December. He was caught by the patriots, but a week later he was forgiven and caught with Ram.

He started 39 of his 70 games in five seasons with Ram. He has seven career interceptions, three fumble recoveries and 218 tackles.

The Browns also agreed terms on Thursday evening on a one-year deal with attacking Greg Senat, who spent time on his practice team last season. He was a free agent of the Cowboys.

As of Monday, the Browns have also agreed terms with McKinley, linebacker McCullum Smith, receiver Rashard Higgins and receiver JoJo Natson on the defensive end. They also tendered the receiver Khadrel Hodge.
