ENGLEWOOD, Colo. –The Broncos could be one step closer to adding significant depth to the offensive tackle position.
Denver brought former Buccaneers-oriented tackle Demar Dotson to UCHealth Training Center for a visit on Sunday, the team announced.
Dotson, a 34-year-old player, has appeared in 130 games and started 106 in his 10-year career. The 6-foot-9, 315-pound has started at least 10 straight-laced games for the Buccaneers in each of the last four seasons and started 15 games in 2019.
The Broncos may need depth on the position after the start of approach Ja’Wuan James declined from the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns. Elijah Wilkinson appears ready to start on straight approach, where he started in 2019 with 12 games.
Dotson played 1,045 snaps in 2019 and allowed five sacks, according to Pro Football Focus. He scored the 15th-best run-blocking tackle and 25th-best pass-blocking tackle among players with at least 800 snaps.
Under the NFL and NFLPA’s COVID-19 protocols, Dotson would have to undergo both COVID-19 tests and a physical before he could sign with the Broncos.
