Brona Tellier: Charles Barley and Schwickle O’Neill attack for ‘rescuers’

Louisville police officers who killed Bruna Taylor on Charles Barclay and Sahakil O’Neill have been attacked on Twitter for defending police officers and blaming Black EMT’s boyfriend for starting the first firing.

Ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers vs. Denver Nuggets game on Thursday, the deaths of Barclay and O’Neill Taylor and the TNT. Prejudice was discussing the decision not to convict any officers in his murder during the show.

Barclays argued that Taylor’s death could not be compared to the police killing of black men George Floyd because Taylor’s boyfriend Kenneth Waker first shot officers when they entered his apartment with a ‘kn no knock’ warrant.

“I don’t think it was like George Floyd or Ahmed Arbury and things like that,” Barclays said.

‘I am saddened that this young lady lost her life. I think a no-knock warrant is something we need to remove from the board. But we have to keep in mind that her boyfriend shot at the cops and shot one of the cops. ‘

After telling Lakers-Nuggets game spectators that Bralona Taylor’s death was not ‘similar’ to that of George Floyd, Schwickl O’Neill (left) and Charles Barclay (right) have come under fire.

O’Neill agreed and argued that the officers involved were “doing their job” only on a warrant signed by the judge.

He also added that he believes the system needs to change.

‘You have to sign a warrant and some states will not allow non-knock warrants. “Everyone was asking for murder charges,” he said. ‘When you talk about murder you have to show purpose. There was a cow slaughter and we are sorry that a cow was slaughtered.

‘When you have a wager signed by a judge, you are doing your job, and I imagine you will go back.’

O’Neill became a deputy in the assistant department of office fees for the Broward County Sheriff’s Office in Florida last year, but it’s not clear what his duties are. He has previously been sworn in as a reserve police officer in the California, Florida and Arizona divisions, and as a deputy marshal in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Since retiring from the NBA in 2011, O’Neill has played few roles in law enforcement, while his positions have been largely unpaid and honorary.

The grand jury has not sought criminal charges against the three police officers for their role in Taylor’s death, Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron announced Wednesday.

His shots were fired at a neighbor’s apartment after a six-month investigation by Cameron’s office fees, as a grant jury decided to indict an officer, Brett Hankison, on charges of absenteeism.

Echoing comments made Thursday by a retired LAPD sergeant, one user called the pair “skin locks,” but not “sing locks.”

Barclays and O’Neill immediately fired on social media for their comments, as they were accused of ‘defending the police’.

One person branded them: ‘Skin people, not relatives.’

“Both Charles and Shaak are throwing black women under the bus,” wrote Justice for Brown Taylor. ‘Shame, I was a fan.’

Former Virginia Senate Democratic nominee Herb Jones added: “I lost a lot of respect today to Charles Barclay and Schwickl O’Neill for their comments on the assassination of Braille Taylor …

‘So it’s okay for some people to protect themselves but not okay for others?’

During the same show, Barclays also voiced calls by protesters to “defend the police,” and warned of knee-jerk reactions to the cop’s murder.

He argued that defending cops meant officers would be expelled from white neighborhoods, leaving blacks unprotected.

‘Who do black people want to call,’ he said, ‘Ghostbusters?’

Instead of dismissing the police, he said, “We need police reform and prison reform.”

Barclays’ remarks also contrast with other prominent NBA figures, including LeBron James, who has thrown his weight behind social justice campaigners fighting to charge officials.

After Thursday night’s game, which saw the Lakers win, LeBron said: ‘I know we lost a beautiful woman in Brenona. And we want justice, no matter how long it takes.

‘We are playing this game here and it is very hard and very difficult, but at the same time, our heart is with that family. And what is happening is so unfair.

‘It’s a tragedy and we hope there are still better days. We hope for better days and not of spreading love and hate. ‘
