Britney Spears’ father Jamie will manage to preserve her personal life, career and estate, despite the singer requesting that he be removed as her curator.
Spears Conservatory has been extended until at least February 2021, a judge ruled in a Los Angeles court on Wednesday (August 19).
Spears’ father has been her conservator for 12 years. Conservatory is when a caregiver or protector is appointed by a court to manage someone’s life due to physical or mental limitations. Spears Conservatory was established in 2008 after a public outcry in 2007.

On Monday (August 17), Spears’ lawyers had stated that the singer was’ strongly opposed ‘to her father as her conservator.
The conservatory has been the subject of widespread online protests this year.
The #FreeBritney movement was launched by fans who believe Spears is “caught”, and one petition, with more than 100,000 signatures lobbying for Spears’ freedom, claims: “Her father did not let her ride, though her conversations and messages are controlled, she has no permission to vote, to hang out with anyone or to spend her money without permission. And if she breaks a ‘rule’, he threatens to take her children away. ‘
Earlier this month, Jamie called the #FreeBritney campaign “a joke” and said he was tired of rumors that it was being exploited.
