According to Britney Spears, her father Jamie Spears does not want to return as her sole conservator after taking a short break from the role due to health issues.
The pop star’s lawyer, Samuel D. Ingham III, said she was strongly opposed [Jamie] back as their personal conservator, ”according to new court documents obtained by Us Weekly.
He also said that Britney, 38, “strongly prefers” that her care manager, Jodi Montgomery, “continue in that role as [she] has been doing for almost a year. ”
Jamie asked Montgomery to take over after citing his persistent colon problems and an altercation occurred with his grandson, Sean Preston. In March, it was revealed that the 67-year-old had tension with Britney’s sons when 13-year-old Jayden Federline went on an Instagram Live rant and said Jamie “could go die.”
Due to the pandemic, Montgomery’s role as Britney’s temporary conservator was extended until August 22. A hearing is scheduled for August 19.
In July, Britney’s mother, Lynne Spears, submitted documents asking to be involved in her daughter’s finances.
In the new documents, the “Toxic” singer does not ask to remove the conservatory completely, but “has appointed a qualified fiduciary to serve in this role.”
Ingham pointed out that Britney was first placed in a conservatory in 2008 after a “collapse, exploitation by predatory individuals and financial ruin,” which would be phase one. She then had a successful stint touring through the entire phase two before going on a hiatus.
“We are now at a point where the conservatory needs to be substantially changed to reflect the major changes in her current lifestyle and her stated desires,” the lawyer added, confirming that Britney has no “desire … to take on this currently performing. “
In March, Jayden voiced the same sentiments on an Instagram Live, saying, ‘I haven’t seen her do a lot of new music yet. I remember once asking her, ‘Mom, what happened to your music?’ and she was, like, ‘I don’t know, honey. I think I can just take it off. ‘”
