British rapper Solo 45 sentenced to 24 years in prison for raping four women

British rapper Solo 45 was sentenced to 24 years in prison on Thursday for raping four women.

The rapper, whose real name is Andy Anokye, was found guilty on 30 counts, including 21 counts related to rape and five counts of false imprisonment in a case that police said exhibited some of the most violent sexual behavior they had ever seen.

Anokye was accused of violent acts such as the submarine, interrogating, assaulting and raping his victims. He claimed that it was all part of the consensual role play. However, a jury at the Bristol Crown Court in southwest England convicted him in March of all but one of the charges against him.

Judged Thursday, Judge William Hart said Anokye “had no empathy” for the women he abused.

Detective Superintendent Lisa Simpson of Avon and Somerset Police said Anokye’s crimes were “some of the most violent sexual behavior” the force had seen.

“We cannot begin to understand what each individual victim has been through,” he said.

Anokye, 33, signed with Island Records and was part of the Grime Boy Better Know collective.

The judge said that none of the other Boy Better Know members “knew their dark side and are in no way tainted by their misdeeds that were carried out in a totally private and hidden manner.”
