LONDON, July 5 (Reuters) – Britain is investing £ 8.4 million ($ 10.49 million) in a new study to examine the long-term effects of COVID-19 on patients, the Sunday said on Sunday. Ministry of Health.
The new coronavirus that causes COVID-19 has been observed to cause many health impacts for some patients beyond immediate respiratory problems, but with other asymptomatic infected individuals, how the virus works is not fully understood.
“As we continue our fight against this global pandemic, we are learning more and more about the impact that the disease can have, not only on immediate health, but also on long-term physical and mental health,” said the Minister of Health Matt Hancock.
The Health Department said 10,000 people would take part in the study, which is being led by the University of Leicester and the city’s hospitals.
Lung and blood samples will be taken from patients and will also be evaluated using advanced imaging, and the findings will be used to develop new forms of personalized treatment.
