Brian Ortega questions Chan Sung Jung’s sudden willingness to compete

Brian Ortega is baffled at how Chan Sung Jung is suddenly ready to compete.

Initially, the pair was slated to headline the UFC on ESPN + 23 last December in South Korea, but Ortega was forced to leave due to a knee injury. Instead, Jung faced off against former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar and finished the former lightweight champion in the first round.

Since then, both Ortega and “The Korean Zombie” have been searching for a new reserve, and there was a confrontation between Ortega (14-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) and Jung’s friend and manager, Korean rapper Jay Park, in T- Mobile Arena in Las Vegas while both attended UFC 248 in March.

Ortega was not happy with some of the things Park had said when translating Jung’s words, which included accusations that Ortega had dodged him. So when Ortega saw Park, he confronted him, slapped him, and ended up being escorted out of the arena.

In a recent call Volkanovski criticized him for his decision victory over Max Holloway. He also called the Australian champion “shameful.”

But Ortega wonders how, just a few weeks ago, Jung claimed that he could not leave the country, but now he is apparently ready to fight Volkanovski.

“How are you going to say I can’t fight because I can’t leave my country and then say you’re suddenly ready to fight.” I just talked to some people who told me that you can fly to America and fly to Fight Island. (By the way, they also live in Korea). So, straight down to fight @danawhite, he said that the winner of us gets the title shot. If you’re not depressed, I’m not going to stumble @danawhite, give me another boy you want to see me fight to win the title. I don’t want free trips. I win my (expletive). “

Ortega has not competed since December 2018, when he suffered his first career loss to then featherweight champion Holloway at UFC 231.

Jung has won three of his last four and comes from the consecutive first-round finishes of Renato Moicano and Edgar.
